For this assignment, using various approaches described in the readings, create a 45-minute lesson plan which you would share with your elementary teachers. The content/subject of the lesson is up to your discretion but should incorporate at least two components phonics or syllabic analysis elements, interactive writing, decoding skills, syllabic analysis and sequential spelling techniques for decoding long words introduced. Please note: a good lesson plan should include rigor. Be sure to include detailed explanations, exercises, differentiated instruction, how student understanding will be assessed, etc. The lesson plan should be grade level specific with modifications for students with exceptionalities and reference your state’s Core Content Curriculum Standards. Explain how the plan connects to previous and subsequent lessons, and include summation. At a minimum, the lesson plan should include, but not limited to the following components: Title of the lesson Grade Level Time required Materials Objectives What do we want the students to know? Instructional components What strategies do students need in order to master the student-learning objective? What activities will teach the skills needed to master the student learning objective? Assessment – How will we know when they know it? What do we do if they don’t? Summary To supplement the lesson plan created, please submit a 3 to 5 page narrative providing an overview of the lesson and as an educational leader, why are the elements shared essential. Your lesson plan and narrative should reflect a high level of critical thinking, and touch upon the different learning styles of all students in a class from the view of an educational leader. Support your paper with two (2) scholarly sources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included. Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages. References: Minimum of 2 scholarly resources.
