This week’s discussion focuses on healthcare repayment systems. I think most of us will agree out healthcare system is in need of a make-over, be it access to care, quality of care or the payment system. I can attest that the “HOW” has been a battle for the past 15 years and will likely continue to be debated for years to come. 

As you may recall about a year ago the backlash Epipen received for inflating the product cost to exceed over 600% the value to develop the product. The cost of pharmaceutical drugs continue to increase as a disproportionate rate to the value of an individual’s cost of living. It’s unfair that in the United States persons have to choose between the medication and other essential hierarchy of needs. I encourage you to read the article below and consider your role as a financial manager. What recommendations would you provide to the stakeholders, R&D team and vendor/suppliers? Where do you draw the line on the cost payment relationship?
