Hello my name is liz. I married with four kids. We all from Chicago, but we station in Hawaii. I’m a childcare provider and I finally got a job as a part time teacher at my son school. I have my AA in Early Childhood Education, wanted to farther my education. My husband is school at well. He attends another college for graphic design. My husband is the one in the service. I want to join myself, but I spinal surgery two years ago and I’m always in pain. I Attended Crane High School and now I’m in Ashford (Education Studies). Teachers in Crane didn’t care about the students or the education.  When I finish high and college in 2007 and 2015 (I was the first out of my grandmother children, my grandmother grandchildren, and mother kids to finish high school and college.) None of my school years influenced me the least (I’m happy I made it, true blessing from God) I’m going to keep farther my education. Why do you think it might be important for teachers to learn about educational psychology? As you learn more about how development occurs, how personality forms, and how factors like society and culture impact behavior, you might find yourself gaining a deeper understanding of the many influences that have impacted your own life. This skill sort of stems from learning about research methods. When you acquire critical thinking skills, you really do doubt all sources of information you acquire. You fully understand the different steps of conducting studies, the problems that can occur at any step, and how each method are problematic in their own ways. I want to be a grammar school/middle school teacher. I want to take what I learn and pass it on to them. As a childcare provider I learn how to work with other kids that not mine. I learn to build a bond with that parents as well. I learn to take my time with my childcare kids. I feel that we can learn a lot from children. Yes, I had my ups and downs with kids, but I learn to stay calm at all time, because kids feed of your vibe as well. I know time-out don’t work for all kids. I don’t bribe a kid to behave. I’m 27/28 I think lol, I can remember some of my past teachers. I feel I learn a lot from my past teachers, the reason because I learn to never give up on a student, I learn to keep an open-mind, I learn to control myself because you never know what a person is going through. I learn to build trust as well; I learn so much from past teachers.

My name is Kimberly. I am a mom of four and a military wife. I have been married for 14 years and we enjoy the military life. Being able to move and see and meet new people everywhere we go. I am a teacher assistance with the public school system in the state of Oklahoma.  I am working on my bachelor’s degree within education.  I would like to be a kindergarten teacher.  I have gone to school in Florida. The school year that influenced me the most I would say was my 5th grade. The school year that influenced me the last was 12th grade. I do think that my schooling did influence me to my work life. Yes, I have held a job in education. I would like to finish my education and take my state test so that I can become a certified teacher. Just in case you were wanting to know how is in the pictures above, the one the left is my grandmother and I at Disney (she passed away four months ago), the middle is my husband and I, one the right is my four children and I and the big one is my family. Hello, My name is Joshua Berndt and I’m from Oshkosh, WI. The Army has finally brought me back to Wisconsin after living all over the United States the last 16 years.  I have been married for 15 years and have two beautiful children; the degree program I have chosen is Education Studies. I’m set to graduate with my BA in April of 2017.  The professional career in which I’m ultimately seeking after I retire from the military in four years is to become a principal or work in the administrative side of a school district. I have wanted to complete my BA for the longest time over the last 16 years in the Army, but I haven’t had the time to complete it.  I now have the time and dedication to complete my BA, and look forward to meeting and learning a lot over these next five weeks.I feel that teachers need to learn about educational psychology to not only better themselves while teaching, but to be able to give students what is needed for them to achieve their greatest.  After looking through the course learning objectives, I hope to gain a netter understanding as to how certain students learn better than others, which will allow me to better assist all my future students in the classroom.  Lastly one interesting fact about myself is that I was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers my Senior year in High School, and played three years in their Minor league system before joining the Army.

My name is Alisha Bigham.  I am from Louisburg, N.C., I have two teenage daughters, and I have been married for more than twenty years.  I think that it is important for teachers to learn about educational psychology because every student is different and they learn in different ways.  A good approach to one will not work with another.  If a teacher knows her students well and understands the many facets of behavior, she will be more effective as a teacher and her students are more eager recipients of the knowledge she has to offer.  From this course, I hope to gain a better understanding of student behavior and what knowledge I will need to acquire in order to better serve all of my students.  I feel that the more insight I have into the way students learn, the better chance I have of understanding their strengths and weaknesses.  To me, educational psychology will add to the keys that I need to be an effective teacher. An interesting fact about myself is that I am 47 years old and I am starting a new career.  I am one year away from my degree in Educational Studies here at Ashford.  Hopefully, I will be able to teach until I am 100!  I have been a professional floral designer for almost thirty years.  Once my girls started school, I spent a lot of time volunteering in the classroom helping the students.  Without me realizing it, I fell in love with teaching the students that needed extra help.  Even though I was a blessing to the teacher, the students were a double blessing to me.  Every year it got better and better.  I got to the point of volunteering every day just to be with those students.  I love being with them and watching them bloom.  My goal is to attain my Masters in education while teaching high school English and History.
